15 MINUTES A DAY CAN IMPROVE MENTAL HEALTH
We lead busy lives and don't often have time for ourselves between work, running errands or taking care of our kids. It is important to remember to take this time for yourself, slow down, pause and reboot.
Even if you are cooking, watching TV or doing chores, your mind is always running, non-stop. We have approximately 60,000 thoughts a day and over 90 percent of them are negative. What you focus on tends to come about, so if most of your thoughts are negative then you're bringing negativity into your life. The only way to get over this is if you take some time for yourself.
In order to achieve mindfulness, you need to schedule time to decompress. This can be in the morning before you start your busy day or at night after a long day. Start off with just 5 to 15 minutes to decompress, shut down and allow yourself to be still. You can do something as simple as having a cup of coffee, reading a book, listening to music or taking a walk. During this time, try to rid your mind of negative thoughts and replace them with positive ones. Be thankful for the things you have and grateful for just waking up another day. Taking some time to relax is important for the path to wellness.
Overall wellness involves healthy eating, exercising and a focused mind.
